Start with the unit, not a blanket package
Send the VIN or vehicle details, mileage, known mechanical concerns, and the intended sale timeline. Separate required repairs from appearance preferences so the estimate matches the unit and its intended use.
Agree on a recon scope
RAW already invites requests for dealer reconditioning, detailing, and commercial repair. Specify whether you need mechanical diagnosis, brake or suspension work, or appearance work, and confirm each item with the shop. Do not assume every service is included in a single package.
Set an approval process before work begins
Name the person who can authorize work, identify any spending limit, and request review when diagnosis changes the scope. For several units, provide a priority order and stagger arrivals after availability is confirmed.
Prepare for collection
Ask what work was completed and what concerns remain. Keep the repair documentation with the unit record. Reconditioning work is not a promise of a sale, a warranty on unrelated components, or a substitute for a dealer’s own review.
